My interest in holistic therapies began in adolescence when I ventured on my first travelling experience. A few days into my journey I was bitten by some hungry mosquitos; leaving me very poorly, with my immune system shot to pieces. During a period of extended rest, I explored an alternative approach that provided support when conventional medicine was inaccessible. Regular massage sessions improved circulation and alleviated discomfort, while participation in a meditation retreat enhanced energy levels and fostered a profound sense of relaxation.
Once back from my travels I was eager to explore ways to improve my emotional and physical health in a more natural way. Aiming to always strive to feel as good as possible inside and out! The massages and meditation improved both my physical and emotional wellbeing that i was inspired to train as a masseuse, and much later as a hypnotherapist. I also enrolled on an aromatherapy course to deepen my understanding and discover more about the secrets of the natural essences, which each contain their own healing properties. Essential oils can be used for various ailments of the mind, body and soul. I qualified as a masseuse and an aromatherapist with the School of Natural Care College of Complimentary Therapies. After observing the efficacy of this hands-on therapy—particularly when combined with essential oils—I was eager to learn Reiki, a distinct hands-off therapeutic approach. I was blown away by how simple this energy healing method had the ability to release energy blockages, restoring balance to the body's energy flow.
Meditation remained a daily practice in helping to keep me focused and calm with life's stressors. This, ongoing practice sparked an interest in Hypnotherapy, after all, hypnotherapy is much like meditation, in that it is a form of deepened relaxation. Ultimately I wanted to have a better understanding of how to take control of our own problems by finding the answers to resolving them. I was fascinated by how our sub-conscious works, the part of our brain, where all our memories are stored, and is responsible for why we think. feel and behave the way we do. There's so much we can learn about ourselves from gaining access to our subconscious and how we have the ability to initiate positive change. Hypnotherapy allows our somewhat busy minds to take a breather, feeling refreshed and clearer after each session. I studied clinical hypnotherapy at the Surrey Clinical College of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, earning my diploma some years ago. During my hypnotherapy studies i developed a deepened interest in past life regression therapy. Based on my personal experiences and curiosity, I chose to further my training and understanding by undertaking additional learning with The Past Life Therapists Association. Past Life Regression is a very interesting therapeutic technique to say the least!
In addition to my dedication to holistic therapies, I have accumulated thirty years of experience within the health and social care sector. I was given the opportunity and privilege to work with a diverse range of individuals, providing support and promoting empowerment. During the Covid pandemic, I advanced my academic qualifications by obtaining a BA (Hons) Degree in Health and Social Care, which enabled me to begin a career as a Social Prescriber. Working across six GP surgeries, i am constantly reminded of the significant problem of the long waits for people attempting to access mental health services. Seeking mental health support particularly post Covid continues to be increasingly challenging. I was eager to learn more approaches that could equip ourselves with the tools to help improve mental wellbeing. I discovered Emotional Freedom Technique and have been impressed with how effectively positive change can take place within just a few sessions. I hold a qualification and membership as an Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner with EFT International.
